Lesson 10. Rearranging Slides in a Prese... > Rearranging Slides in Outline View

Rearranging Slides in Outline View

In Outline view, you see the titles and text on each slide. This view gives you a clearer picture of the content and organization of your presentation than the other views, so you may prefer to rearrange your slides in Outline view. Here's how you do it:

  1. Switch to Outline view by choosing View, Outline or clicking on the Outline button.

  2. Click on the slide number or slide icon to the left of the slide you want to move. This action highlights the contents of the entire slide.

    Tip

Moving the Contents of a Slide If you just want to insert some of the information from a slide into your presentation, you don't have to move the entire slide. You can move only the slide's data-text and graphics-from one slide to another by selecting only what you want to move and dragging it to its new location.

  3. Move the mouse pointer over the selected slide icon, hold down the mouse button, and drag the slide up or down in the outline, or click on the Move Up or Move Down buttons on the Outlining toolbar, as shown in Figure 10.2.

  4. Release the mouse button when the slide is at the desired new position. Be careful not to drop the slide in the middle of another slide! If you do, just choose Edit, Undo and try again.
