Lesson 28. Object Linking and Embedding > Linking a File to a Presentation

Linking a File to a Presentation

If you have a file in another program (for instance, a graphic in Windows Paint program), you can link it to a PowerPoint presentation. To link the file to your presentation, follow these steps:

  1. Display the slide onto which you want to place the object.

  2. Choose Insert, Object. The Insert Object dialog box appears.

  3. Click Create from File. The dialog box changes, as shown in Figure 28.1.

Figure 28.1. The Insert Object dialog box enables you to link an object.

  4. Type the complete path and file name of the file you want to link, or click the Browse button to use a dialog box to find it.

  5. Select the Link check box. This is important! It makes the difference between linking and merely embedding.

  6. Click OK.
