Cutting, Copying, and Pasting Slides

In Lesson 10, you will learn how to rearrange slides in Slide Sorter and Outline views. However, you also can use the cut, copy, and paste features to copy and move slides, either in the same presentation or into other presentations. To cut (or copy) a slide and paste it in a presentation, perform the following steps:

  1. Change to Slide Sorter or Outline view.

  2. Select the slide(s) you want to copy or cut.

  3. Open the Edit menu, and select Cut or Copy to either move or copy the slide(s) to the Windows Clipboard.

    Plain English

Windows Clipboard The Windows Clipboard is a temporary holding area for cut or copied items. You can cut or copy items to the Clipboard and then paste them on a slide, or cut or copy an entire slide or group of slides.

    Tip

Quick Cut or Copy To bypass the Edit menu, press Ctrl+C to copy or Ctrl+X to cut, or click on the Cut or Copy button on the Standard toolbar.

  4. If you want to paste the slide(s) into a different presentation, open that presentation.

  5. In Slide Sorter view, select the slide after which you want to place the cut or copied slide(s). In Outline view, move the insertion point to the end of the text in the slide after which you want to insert the cut or copied slide(s).

  6. Choose Edit, Paste or press Ctrl+V. (You can also click on the Paste button on the Standard toolbar.) PowerPoint inserts the cut or copied slides.
