Lesson 27. Exchanging Data > Using Data from PowerPoint in Other Programs

Using Data from PowerPoint in Other Programs

After you've spent a lot of time creating a PowerPoint presentation, you might want to use some of the data in another program. For example, you might want to base a Microsoft Word report on a PowerPoint presentation. There are several ways to transfer data from PowerPoint to another program.

Exporting a Presentation

If you need to use your PowerPoint presentation in another program, you can save an entire presentation as a different file type. PowerPoint does not export files to as many formats as it can import; for instance, you cannot directly save your PowerPoint presentation as a Harvard Graphics file. However, you can export the data from the presentation in a more generic form, such as RTF (Rich Text Format), that you can import to other graphics programs.
