Formatting the Text

You may want to use a different font, type style, type size, or color for a person's name and position, or for different levels in the chart. Or you may want to change the text alignment in the box from center to left or right. To format the text in a box, do the following:

  1. Select the text you want to format:

    • Click on a box to format all the text in the box.

    • To format part of the text in a box, drag over the desired text.

    • Hold down the Shift key, and click on two or more boxes to format the text in every selected box.

  2. Select Text, Font. The Font dialog box appears.

  3. Change one or more of the following options:

    • Font Select a typeface from the Font list.

    • Font Style Select a style (for example, bold or italic) from the Font Style list.

    • Size Select a type size (in points) from the Size list.

What about Script? The Font dialog box has a Script drop-down list in it too. The Script option enables you to select the alphabet characters you use for a particular language. The default is Western, which means most English-speaking languages. You might also have Turkish and Central European to choose from here, for typing in those languages. If you bought your copy of PowerPoint in an English-speaking country, you probably have only Western on the list.

  4. Click OK.

  5. To change the color of the text, select Text, Color, and click on the desired color in the dialog box that appears.

  6. To change the alignment of the text in the box, open the Text menu, and select Left, Right, or Center.
