The Find Tab

The Index is great if you know the name of the Help topic you're looking for. But what if you're not sure? That's where Find comes in handy. Find searches not only the titles of Help topics, but also their contents, and retrieves all the topics in which the word(s) you typed appears. Follow these steps to learn how to use Find:

  1. Open the Help menu and select Help Topics and Index.

  2. Click the Find tab. The first time you use Find, you'll be asked to build the Find index. Click Next to do so, and then click Finish.

  3. Type the topic you're looking for in the top box, as shown in Figure 4.6.

  4. If more than one line appears in the middle box, click the one that most closely matches your interest.

  5. Browse the topics that appear at the bottom, and double-click the one that describes the help you need. A Help window for the topic you selected appears.
