Lesson 22. Working with Tables > Automatic Table Formatting

Automatic Table Formatting

Word provides a variety of predefined table formats. Using these formats makes it easy to apply attractive formatting to any table:

  1. Place the cursor anywhere in the table.

  2. Select Table, Table AutoFormat. The Table AutoFormat dialog box appears (see Figure 22.4). This is the same dialog box you would see if you selected AutoFormat in the Insert Table dialog box when first creating a table, as covered earlier in this lesson.

  3. Formats lists the available table formats. As you scroll through the list, the Preview box shows the appearance of the highlighted format.

  4. Select and deselect the formatting check boxes as needed until the Preview shows the table appearance you want.

  5. Select OK. The selected formatting is applied to the table.
