Lesson 27. Revision Marks and Multiple V... > Tracking and Highlighting Document C...

Tracking and Highlighting Document Changes

Keeping track of changes and highlighting them in the document are two independent processes. There are three ways this can work:

  • If you track changes without highlighting them, Word will keep track of document changes but not display revision marks on the screen. You can later turn on revision mark display to show the previous changes.

  • If you highlight changes without tracking them, earlier document changes that were made when tracking was turned on will be highlighted, but new changes will not be tracked or marked.

  • If you both track and highlight changes, Word will track new changes and mark both old and new ones. You will probably use this setting most often.
