Mailing a Document

If you have Microsoft Messaging or another e-mail program installed on your system, you can send a document directly to a mail recipient. Here are the steps to take:

  1. Click File, Send To, Mail Recipient.

  2. Depending on the specifics of your system, Word may ask you to select a profile setting. Generally, the default setting is the one you should select.

  3. Next, you will see your usual New Message window. The appearance of this window will vary depending on the mail system you are using, but it will be the same mail form that you use for other e-mail messages. Figure 8.3 shows the New Message window used by the Windows Messaging system.

  4. The document will already be inserted in the message as an icon. You can add text to the message if desired. You must also fill in the To… text box of the message with the recipient's address.

  5. When the message is complete, click the Send button.
