Modifying a Style

You can change the formatting associated with any paragraph or character style, whether it is a style you defined or one of Word's predefined styles. When you do so, all text in the document that has the style assigned will be modified. Here's how:

  1. Click Format, Style to open the Style dialog box (see Figure 12.4).

  2. Click the List drop-down arrow and select which styles should be displayed in the Styles list:

    • All Styles All styles defined in the current document.

    • Styles in Use Styles that have been assigned to text in the current document.

    • User Defined Styles All user-defined styles in the current document.

  3. In the Styles list, click the name of the style you want to modify.

  4. Click the Modify button. The Modify Style dialog box appears, which looks the same as the New Style dialog box (refer to Figure 12.3). Specify the style's new format specifications.

  5. Click OK the return to the Style dialog box, then click Close.
