Indentation

The distance between your text and the left and right edges of the page is controlled by two things: the left and right page margins and the text indentation. Margins, which are covered in Lesson 13, are usually changed only for entire documents or large sections of a document. For smaller sections of text, such as individual lines and paragraphs, you will use indentation.

Indentation

The distance between a paragraph's text and the margins for the entire document. For example, if the left margin is set at 1" and a paragraph has a 1" indentation, that paragraph starts 2" from the edge of the paper.
