Lesson 13. Advanced Style Techniques > Using Word's Heading Styles in Outline V...

Using Word's Heading Styles in Outline View

Word's predefined styles include nine heading styles, named Heading 1 through Heading 9; they can be very useful in certain kinds of documents. In addition to being used as regular styles for assigning formatting to text, they are used in Word's Outline view, which you learned about in Lesson 7. In Outline view, each heading style is automatically applied as an outline level, with Heading 1 as the top level, Heading 2 as the next level, and so on. Figure 13.2 shows a document in Outline view with headings displayed.
