Building an Equation

The process of constructing an equation consists largely of using the template and symbol palettes and the keyboard to assemble the equation, piece by piece. Text and symbols are entered in slots, which are either separate from or part of a template. Text or symbols are entered in the slot that contains the insertion point. You can use the mouse, or the arrow and Tab keys, to move the insertion point from one slot to another.

The templates take care of most of the positioning and spacing required in equation building. Other commands are available to fine-tune spacing and alignment of the equation's components. Commands are available for controlling the font type and font size of the elements in an equation, as well.
