More Power

Word is one of the most powerful word processors available. With it, you have extraordinarily broad capabilities, from the ability to link to mainframe databases to the ability to publish newsletters with complex layouts.

Working with Other Windows Applications

Word has great flexibility and power when working with other Windows applications. In addition to its ability to copy and paste or link to data in other Windows applications, you can embed parts of other Office documents in your Word document. While you are working in Word, you can then activate that embedded data; the menus and toolbars that are appropriate for the data display in Word. Notice that in Figure 1.9, the Word menu and toolbar reflect the Excel chart in the document. Embedding enables you to embed Word documents in the journals, calendars, schedules, and task lists of Microsoft Outlook. Double-clicking the embedded documents make them immediately available to you without having to leave Microsoft Outlook.
