Using Comments

The Track Changes feature is useful for tracking editing changes in a document, whereas Comments are best for attaching comments to a document. Because Comments are linked to specific parts of a document, they are just like notes scribbled in the white space—except that Comments are more convenient.

You may have had the experience of printing a final copy of a document and then noticing a note to yourself that you forgot to delete. The Comment feature takes care of that problem by keeping comments separate from the rest of your text; they aren't printed unless you specifically decide to print them. Comments are the ideal place to store questions and notes to yourself or to an author whose work you're reviewing.
