Part VI: Publishing with Graphics > Inserting Text with Special Effects

Chapter 28. Inserting Text with Special Effects

  • Add a WordArt object

When you want to add special effects with WordArt, you will have to add a WordArt object and enter the text to be used.

  • Apply text treatments such as fonts, styles, and sizes

Once the object is in place in your document, you can work with different attributes to change the look of the text for the object.

  • Apply special effects such as rotation, slanting, shaping, and arcing

You can also work with the object's position to adjust the effect.

  • Apply colors, borders, and shading

You can change the color of the letters, its 3-D effect, as well as add special borders and fill the letters with interesting patterns and shading.

  • Apply typographic aids such as aligning and adjusting character spacing

One way to change the look of text is to adjust the amount of space between characters, as well as the alignment of your text.

You see examples of words used as graphics every day: pull quotes in magazines lighten a page of text and attract attention to important points; logos turn words into symbols that you recognize without even reading; decorated words embellish the mastheads in newsletters; and special text effects add interest to advertisements.
