Chapter 14. Publishing to a Web > Creating Hyperlinks in Word Documents

Creating Hyperlinks in Word Documents

Hyperlinks are one of the reasons the Web is so attractive. Combined with a Web browser, such as Internet Explorer, hyperlinks make it very easy for the reader of a document to click a phrase or graphic in one document and jump to a related document. It is up to you as the author to insert hyperlinks in your documents that take the reader to related documents or Web pages.

Hyperlinks in Word documents can be between different types of Office documents as well as to Internet or intranet sites. Clicking a hyperlink to an Office document will open the document in its appropriate application. Clicking a hyperlink to an Internet or intranet site will start your Internet browser and access the site.
