Printing to a File

Someday you might need to print a Word document from a printer that doesn't have Word installed. You have two options. You can take a copy of the Word Viewer, a free subset of Word that displays and prints DOC files, or you can print the document to a printer file and take this printer file with you. The printer file you create must be made for the printer you will actually print on.

Microsoft has free Viewer applications that can display and print Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files without using the full application. To download a free copy of the Word Viewer, point your browser:
