Reorganizing an Outline

By using Word's selection techniques, you can select outline headings in any of the normal ways. Outline view, however, offers a shortcut for selecting that can be a real time-saver. When you select an outline heading by clicking its icon in Outline view, you select the heading and its subordinate headings and body text.

Even if you don't use an outline to organize your thoughts before you begin writing, you can use an outline later to reorganize your document quickly. After you click a heading's + or - icon, you can move all the subordinate headings and text as a unit. (If you select only the words in an expanded heading, you move only the heading.)
