Setting Margins

Margins are the borders on all four sides of a page, within which the text of your document is confined. Margins aren't necessarily blank, however; they may contain headers, footers, page numbers, footnotes, or even text and graphics.

Word default margins are 1 inch at the top and bottom and 1.25 inches on the left and right. You can change the margins for the entire document or for parts of the document (if you divide the document into sections). See Figure 13.1. If you use different margin settings regularly, you can modify the Normal template so that they become the new defaults.
