Applying Special Character Formatting Options

Many formatting options are simple and straightforward: A font is a specific character set design; size is measured in points; boldfaced text is heavier than normal text. Other options, however, aren't quite so obvious, and to use them, you may need to specify some criteria that further controls the option. For example, you can specify how high you want superscript text to appear in relation to the text baseline.

All the character formatting options described in this section toggle on and off. To remove superscripting, for example, you must select the Superscripted text, choose Format, Font to access the Font dialog box, and choose Superscript again.
