Working with Callouts

Callouts can also give your document a more polished look. Often, when you include a picture in a document, the picture needs some explanation or annotation. This is often done with blocks of text with lines pointing to specific areas of the picture. Instead of having to use a text box with the line tool, you can simply use a callout.

A callout is a text box with a line already attached. You can select from a variety of styles from the AutoShapes menu. You create a callout like any other shape, but you may spend more time with the Adjustment handles, which enable you to adjust the position of either the callout text box or the end of the line extending from the callout (see Figure 27.19).
