Formatting Your Shapes

Once the shape is placed in your document, you can use the formatting options to make it stand out. You can change the color of the shape's outline, as well as the type of line used. You can add arrowheads to the end of lines. You can add color and a pattern to the inside of closed shapes. You can create shadows and 3-D effects. You can even change an object's perspective by rotating or flipping it.

Changing the Line Style, Dash Style, and Arrows

When you first create a shape, it has a solid black border. If it is a line, it also has plain ends. These can all be modified with the Drawing toolbar or by using the Colors and Lines tab in the Format AutoShape dialog box.
