Customizing the Start Menu to Include Word or Documents

The contents of the Start menu can be customized. You can add a list of applications you use frequently, and then start those applications directly from the menu. By adding programs or documents to the Start menu you avoid having to display additional menus.

Tip

To quickly add Word to the highest level of the Start menu, drag Word's application file, WINWORD.EXE, from the Explorer or My Computer window and drop it on the Start button. WINWORD.EXE is usually located in the C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\WINWORD folder.
