Chapter 3. Creating and Saving Documents > Working with Multiple Documents

Working with Multiple Documents

In Word, you can work with several documents simultaneously. Each new document you create or each existing document you open resides in its own document window on your screen. (For details on the difference between the program window and document windows and moving and sizing windows, see Chapter 2, "Getting Started in Word.")

One benefit to working with multiple documents simultaneously is that you can easily copy or move text between them. This feature eases the task of creating two different versions of one basic document or borrowing from an existing document as you build a new one.
