Chapter 23. Building Forms and Fill-In D... > Building Forms with Fill-In Dialog B...

Building Forms with Fill-In Dialog Boxes

With {fillin} fields, you can design a form letter so that you need to enter a data item (such as a name) only once—no matter how many times it appears in the letter. This feature is extremely useful for filling out invoices, contracts, proposals, or business forms in which the majority of the body copy remains unchanged. {fillin} fields are useful also when you need to insert personal phrases in mass mailings. Figure 23.22 shows a document you can create to demonstrate how {fillin} fields work. This document automatically sets the current date, then requests the customer's name. It then displays a fill-in box for each item in the table.

First you should create a new template for form letters.
