The Visual Basic Editor

Visual Basic 5.0 is the language used in Office 97 to write macros. It exists in a different environment than it did in previous versions of Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). The program that controls VBA code in PowerPoint, as well as the other Office applications, is the Visual Basic Editor (VBE).

The VBE is a separate program that works with all the programs that support VBA. The VBE exists separately from the main application such as PowerPoint. However, the code is kept in Project folders that are stored in specific presentations. In a sense, the VBE is similar to Microsoft Graph in that Graph creates and edits the datasheet and chart, but the chart and datasheet are stored inside of PowerPoint.
