Chapter 41. Using Excel with Office Appl... > Using the Clipboard to Share Data

Using the Clipboard to Share Data

For Windows applications, the Clipboard makes sharing information possible within documents in the same application and among documents in different applications. The Clipboard is a reserved part of memory in Windows, not part of any individual application, that holds one item at a time. The Clipboard holds the text, graphics, numbers, or other data that you copy or cut in the application you are using. After you store something in the Clipboard, you can move to another location in your file or switch to a file in another application and paste the information from the Clipboard.

You can view the contents of the Clipboard at any time by opening the Clipboard Viewer. Click the Start button, select Programs, Accessories, and then click Clipboard Viewer in the Accessories submenu.
