Creating an Outline

Excel can create an outline, or you can manually create the outline. Excel's Automatic Outlining feature offers automated speed and convenience. Automatic outlining works well in most situations, and is useful if you haven't created an outline before and your outline has a consistent layout. Manual outlining is necessary if the data is organized in a way that Excel doesn't understand. If you are experienced in creating outlines, manual outlining offers additional flexibility in designing your outline.
