Chapter 15. Creating Charts > Creating a Chart

Creating a Chart

The Chart Wizard and Chart menu have been reorganized in Excel 97. The four dialog boxes in the Chart Wizard are now identical to the first four menu items in the Chart menu. This makes it much easier to go back and forth between working with the Chart Wizard and using the Chart commands. In fact, you can use either the Chart Wizard or the Chart menu commands to edit a chart once you have created it. When you are creating a chart, however, the easiest method is to use the mouse and Chart Wizard. The Chart Wizard guides you through the creation process and shows a sample of the chart you are creating, so that you can see the effect of your choices before the chart is complete. This method is helpful when you use data not arranged in a layout that Excel recognizes by default.
