  • Format data series and data markers

You can enhance the data series and data markers in your charts by changing their appearance and by adding trendlines and error bars.

  • Scale and customize the axes

Customize chart axes by modifying the tick marks, tick mark labels, and style used for the axis, and adjust the scaling of an axis for the most effective representation of your data.

  • Format 3-D charts

Change the elevation, rotation, and perspective of your 3-D charts to enhance the display of the data.

In the preceding two chapters, you learned how to create a chart and then to modify the predefined charts produced by Excel. In this chapter, you learn how to format your charts to give them the professional look you need for your reports and presentations.

After you select a predefined chart format, you can change the colors and patterns of the objects in your chart. You can add borders to the chart and to the text, legends, and other objects in your chart to increase the visual effect of your chart. You can customize the font and color of text, as well as the format of numbers. By selecting an axis and then a format command, you can change the scale and the appearance of tick marks and labels. There are many enhancements you can make to data series, as well as to individual data markers. You also can rotate 3-D charts to give the best view of your data.
