Adding Error Bars to a Chart

Error bars are used in charts to visually represent the margin of error or degree of uncertainty in a data series. Error bars are commonly used in plots of statistical and engineering data to give the viewer an indication of how reliable the data being presented is. The greater the uncertainty associated with the data points in a data series, the wider are the error bars. Figure 18.9 shows a chart with error bars inserted.
