Chapter 14. Using OneNote with Other Off... > Copying Data from Other Office Progr...

Copying Data from Other Office Programs

The simplest, and often best, way to import data is to copy it from the source and paste it in a note container. The last item you cut or copied, no matter which program you were using, is stored on the Windows Clipboard so you can paste it in another location. When you paste the data, the Paste Options button appears to help you format data that you copied. Click one of the following commands on the Paste Options button’s dropdown menu:

  • Click Keep Source Formatting to preserve the data’s original formatting.

  • Click Match Destination Formatting to make the pasted data adopt the formatting of surrounding text.

  • Click Keep Text Only to make the text adopt the formatting of the surrounding text, but strip the text’s formatting effects, such as boldfacing and italics.

  • Click Paste As Picture to enter the text as a picture object.

  • Click one of the four pasting commands, and then click Set As Default Paste to make the pasting command you clicked the default method for pasting data.
