Creating Numbered Lists

Numbered lists are used to present step-by-step instructions, ranked items, or items in numerical order. In OneNote, you can change the order of items in a list without having to renumber the items. After you move the items, OneNote renumbers them for you. This ability to renumber lists is invaluable, for example, in meetings in which participants prioritize or rank items. As the members of the group decide on priorities and rankings, the note-taker can simply move the list items around without your having to renumber them.

In addition to whole numbers, you can number lists in cardinal numbers, roman numerals, or spelled-out numbers, by selecting options in the Numbering task pane.
