Chapter 1. Getting Acquainted with OneNote > Moving Around in OneNote

Moving Around in OneNote

People who use OneNote often keep more than one section open to work on two sets of notes at once. For this reason, it helps to know all the ways to move to and from sections and folders. OneNote offers several techniques for doing this:

  • Click a section or folder tab at the top of the page window to go to a different folder or section. (You can also press to go to the next section or press to go to the previous one.) If all the tabs won’t fit on-screen, click the Scroll to next tab arrow or Scroll to previous tab arrow to get to the tab you want.

  • Click the Folder button (its name changes depending on which folder you are working in), and select a folder or section on the drop-down menu. To expand or collapse folders on the menu, click the expand or contract buttons.

  • Click the Back button to open the section you just viewed. You can also click the down arrow on the button to display a list of sections you opened previously.

  • Click the Forward button to return to a section you displayed before clicking the Back button. You can click this button’s down arrow to display a list of sections you opened earlier.

  • Click the Navigate to Parent Folder button to move up the folder hierarchy.
