Key Points

  • When you search for a note, OneNote looks only in folders and sections that are open.

  • You can search using the AND, OR, or NEAR operator, as well as quotation marks to search for whole phrases.

  • The Find toolbar includes buttons that you use to move from note to note. Click the View List button on the Find toolbar to open the Page List task pane.

  • You can sort the search results in the Page List task pane by section, page title, or section creation date.

  • To search all OneNote files without having to open folders and sections, you can use the Windows XP Search command. With this command, you can search many folders at once, not just the folders that are open in OneNote.
