Chapter 8. Finding Stray Notes > Searching for Note Text

Searching for Note Text

To search for notes by a word or phrase in the note text, type the text in the Find box. The Find toolbar appears after you conduct the search. By clicking buttons on this toolbar, you can examine notes that were found. You can also open the Page List task pane and examine notes there.

Important

In a Find operation, OneNote looks only in open sections. Before you conduct your search, open the sections in which you expect to find the notes. If you aren’t sure which sections to open, consider searching with the Windows XP Search command. Using Windows XP, you can search for notes without having to open sections in OneNote. See “Conducting a Power Search with Windows XP” later in this chapter for more information about searching OneNote sections with Windows XP.
