Chapter 12. Customizing OneNote > Moving and Removing Toolbar Buttons

Moving and Removing Toolbar Buttons

You can move and remove toolbar buttons. OneNote offers two ways to do this—with the Toolbar Options button and the Customize dialog box.

In this exercise, you add and remove toolbar buttons..

1.
Click the Toolbar Options button at the right end of any toolbar.

2.
Click Add or Remove buttons on the drop-down menu.

3.
Click the name of the toolbar you want to modify.

You see a menu that lists all the buttons on the toolbar as well as buttons you can add to the toolbar.

4.
Select or clear the check boxes for the buttons on the menu you want to add or remove.

5.
On the Tools menu, click Customize.

The Customize dialog box opens. When dialog box is open, moving and removing buttons on a toolbar is simply a matter of dragging the buttons.

6.
To move a toolbar button, click the button, and drag it left or right on the toolbar.

As you drag, the move object pointer replaces the mouse pointer.

7.
To move a button to a different toolbar, simply drag it there.

You can place a copy of a toolbar button on a second toolbar by holding down the key as you drag.

8.
To remove a toolbar button, drag the button off the toolbar.

Troubleshooting

To restore a toolbar to its default after customizing it, open the Customize dialog box, click the Toolbars tab, click the name of the toolbar you want to restore, and click the Reset button. You can also click the Toolbar Options button, click Add or Remove Buttons, click the toolbar’s name, and click Reset Toolbar on the shortcut menu.
