Chapter 12. Customizing OneNote > Customizing the Display of Toolbars

Customizing the Display of Toolbars

Whether you decide to customize the toolbars or make a toolbar of your own, you can take a few simple steps to make using toolbars easier. On the Tools menu, click Customize, click the Options tab in the Customize dialog box, and choose among these options to decide how you want to display OneNote toolbars:

  • Selecting the “Show Standard and Formatting toolbars on two rows” option displays the Standard toolbar and Formatting toolbar on two rows instead of one. The toolbars occupy more space on the screen, but the buttons are easier to find.

  • Select the “Large icons” option to display large icons on toolbars.

  • Select the “Show ScreenTips on toolbars” option to display a ScreenTip (a pop-up box that displays the button’s name and its equivalent keystroke) when you position the mouse pointer over a button.

  • Select the “Show shortcut keys in ScreenTips” option to include the button’s shortcut key (a key combination you can that issues the button’s command) in ScreenTips.
