Chapter 19. Preparing and Printing Repor... > Publishing Reports in Word

Publishing Reports in Word

One of the great advantages about working with a suite of programs such as Microsoft Office is that you can share the talents of the different programs no matter what kind of data you are working with. After you create a report in Access, you can use the OfficeLinks command to send it to Word, where you can fix it up with your favorite formats and frills. To publish a report in Word, follow these steps:

  1. Display the database window by pressing F11 if necessary.

  2. Click Reports and select the report you want in the right panel.

  3. Click Preview. The report appears in Print Preview.

  4. Click the OfficeLinks down arrow on the toolbar; then select Publish It With Microsoft Word. A message box appears, telling you that the report is being printed to Word. The document is saved in a file with the same name as your Access report, but it is given the .rtf (rich text format) extension. The report appears in the Word window (as shown in Figure 19-3). You can now change the report in any way you choose, formatting or enhancing the report as a Word document.
