Managing Your E-mail

Anyone who’s had an e-mail address for any length of time has learned that getting control of messages right away is crucial. Otherwise, you’ll wind up as I did—with 1,400 messages in your Inbox and only a few folders to put them in. Most of us simply skip the messages we don’t want to read and move on to the next. The problem with such an out-of-sight, out-of-mind strategy is that it becomes a problem when you have to find that one message about the meeting you had back in November when Tom was hoping to introduce the new timing belt...

Better to bring your e-mail under control right off the bat, before you have piles of it to dig through (metaphorically speaking). Outlook gives you a number of ways to organize your e-mail and your e-mail data. We’ll start by creating folders in which to store the messages you want to keep.
