Key Points

  • FrontPage 2002 is a Web site creation and management program that is part of the Office XP Professional suite of applications.

  • You can use FrontPage to create sites quickly from scratch using the program’s Web templates.

  • FrontPage uses six different views—Page, Folders, Reports, Navigation, Hyperlinks, and Tasks—to enable you to see different aspects of the site you’re creating.

  • The FrontPage toolbars are similar to those in other Office XP applications: the Standard toolbar includes the tools you’ll use to work with files in various ways; and the Formatting toolbar enables you to control and change the formats of elements on your pages.

  • The Tasks view lists the items you need to accomplish during the creation of your site.

  • Add your own text to a Web page by clicking the prompt text to highlight it and then typing. You can change the font, style, color, and alignment of text as you would in a word-processing document. You also can copy text from other programs into FrontPage.

  • FrontPage includes a number of options for the types of graphics you can add to your pages. You can use clip art, scanned images, WordArt, AutoShapes, and more. You also can create your own Photo Gallery, complete with captions, for display on a specific page.

  • Preview your page in Preview mode (by clicking the Preview tab at the bottom of the work area) or by choosing Preview In Browser from the File menu. This shows you the way your site will appear on the Web, complete with working links.
