Key Points

  • For special presentations, you can easily add animations, movies, music, and more to your slides.

  • You can add a movie clip in two ways: By choosing Movies And Sounds from the Insert menu and selecting Movie From Clip Organizer or Movie From File, or by clicking the Insert Movie Clip icon in the content palette on selected slides.

  • Use the Clips Online link (found in the Clip Organizer and in the Insert Clip Art task pane) to find and download animations, movies, and sounds from the Web.

  • You can record your own sound effects and save them in the Slide Transition task pane by choosing Record Sound from the Movies And Sounds submenu.

  • PowerPoint allows you to add narration for your presentations by using the Record Narration command on the Slide Show menu. You can then link the file to the presentation (which helps you limit the file size) or embed the narration file in your presentation, whichever you prefer.

  • PowerPoint gives you the ability to broadcast your presentations on the Web or on your company local area network (LAN) by using the Online Broadcast feature. This way, you can give your presentation to a selected group at a specified time, and add your own live video and voice-over, if you like.
