Working with More Than One Set of Data

An important part of managing your Excel data effectively is organizing it into workbooks by subject. For example, you can create a workbook to track sales for the new year or add a worksheet to a products workbook to maintain records of a new product category. When you store your data in more than one workbook, you need a way to work with multiple workbooks simultaneously. You can open more than one workbook at a time by accessing the Open dialog box multiple times, but you can also open more than one file from the Open dialog box at once.

In the Open dialog box, hold down the key, click the files you want to open, and then click Open. For example, you might open the workbooks with the sales for the first three months in a year and compare the totals, both by day and by grand total.
