Using Functions to Extract Details from a List

Excel provides a number of functions that can help you retrieve particular bits of information from your lists. We'll survey those functions in the remainder of this chapter.

The Database Statistical Functions

The database statistical functions include DAVERAGE, DCOUNT, DCOUNTA, DGET, DMAX, DMIN, DPRODUCT, DSTDEV, DSTDEVP, DSUM, DVAR, and DVARP. Each of these functions, with the exception of DGET, is the counterpart of a normal statistical function. DSUM is the counterpart of SUM, DVAR, VAR, and so on.
