Chapter 10. Creating Spiffy Graphics > Using the Drawing Tools

Using the Drawing Tools

Excel's drawing tool chest offers many of the powerful capabilities of dedicated illustration programs. You can use this tool chest to create smooth curves; linked objects using connectors; basic and not-so-basic shapes, such as three-dimensional boxes and lightning bolts; a variety of straight, curved, and multiheaded arrows; flow charts; stars, emblems, and banners; and callouts. You create these graphic objects using the buttons and menus on the Drawing toolbar shown in Figure 10-1. The easiest way to display the Drawing toolbar is by right-clicking any displayed toolbar or the menu bar and choosing Drawing from the shortcut menu.
