35. Space and Indent a Paragraph


Paragraph formatting is at the heart of document formatting. The document, after all, is only the sum of its paragraphs. When you think of a paragraph, you probably think of a paragraph of body text. That fits with the way your English teachers probably explained it some time back. But in Word, any block of text between two paragraph markers is a paragraph. It can be a long block of type, a headline, or even an empty space. The Paragraph dialog box has two pages of specifications you can apply to any paragraph. Your use of these options has a major effect on the overall document design.
