33. Apply Automatic Formats


Often, the difference between Word and traditional typewriting is in the small things. For example, you can place a true dash (—) into a document, whereas old-school typists had to settle for a pair of hyphens (--) instead. Typewriters had only one kind of quotation marks (""), but typesetters can use so-called smart quotes (“ and ”) that differ at the beginning and end of the quotation.
