Hour 6. Formatting Characters > Removing Font Formatting

Removing Font Formatting

If you have applied several different font formats to a block of text and then decide you want to turn off all of them, you can, of course, select the text and then turn off each one individually. This method can be quite tedious, however, because you may have to use several dialog boxes, toolbar buttons, or keyboard shortcuts. A much faster method is to select the text and press the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+Spacebar, which removes all of the font formatting that has been manually applied.

This shortcut also comes in handy if you have to edit a document in which the font formatting is badly botched. To remove the font formatting from an entire document and start over, press Ctrl+A to select the document, and then press Ctrl+Spacebar.
