Hour 19. Electronic Forms > Filling in a Form

Filling in a Form

To use a form that you or someone else has created, follow these steps:

1.
Choose File, New, and click On My Computer in the New Document task pane.

2.
In the Templates dialog box, select the form template, and click OK.

3.
Fill in the form fields. You can either click in each field or press Tab to move from field to field. Figure 19.13 shows the form used in the examples earlier in this hour after a user has filled in the fields. One of the drop-down lists is displayed so that you can see what it looks like.

4.
Save the document. Word will save it as a Word document (.doc file) so that it doesn't overwrite your template. (You might want to think of a naming convention to use for all of the filled-in forms you base on this template so that you can store them in an organized way.)
